§ 58-66. Definitions.

  • The following words, terms and phrases, when used in this article, shall have the meanings ascribed to them in this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning. Except as specifically defined below, words and phrases used in this article are to be interpreted as having the same meanings as they have in state statutes and administrative codes and in common law.

    A-plus-4 mound system means a mound system that is installed on soils that consist of the "a" horizon plus four inches of soil above a limiting factor.

    Adequate plumbing facilities consist of a toilet, sink and bathing unit.

    Certified septage servicing operator means a person or firm licensed by the state to pump, haul and dispose of sewage and septage.

    Code enforcement officer means the person filling that position as a county employee, or any assistants or employees.

    Comm means the state department of commerce.

    Holding tank means an in-ground watertight receptacle used for the collection and holding of sewage.

    Private onsite wastewater treatment systems (POWTS) means any nonmunicipal structural system for the treatment, storage or disposal of sewage.

    Sewage means the liquid and liquid carried wastes created in and to be conducted away from residences, businesses, industries, public buildings and other buildings in which people live, stay or work.
